S-M-R-T

Todd and I went to "Smart Homes" tonight with a few of his staff. Great food (lobster tails) and very cool stuff. We obviously need to win the lottery.

On another note, our house is coming along. The stairs are in, millwork is almost all in and we confirmed our appliance order. I tried to pin our contractor down on a possession date and he not-so-subtly ignored my question. He eventually told Todd September 1st. Somehow I have my doubts. Oh, well. It'll be done when it's done. Besides the longer it takes, the more time I have to "train" Emily and Liam to stop jumping on/off the couch and turning it into a tent.

Traumatic Day for Emily

Emily and Liam had a dental appointment today. All was well until the dentist, while examining Emily's teeth said 'decay'. Uh, oh. Her first cavity. I've always preached that she has to brush her teeth (and let me have a turn as well) because the 'sugar monster' will make a home in her teeth aka cavity. She now believes me. Not a big deal to me as I don't know anyone who has never experienced the dentist's drill, but she felt awful and thus so did I. Not only was the dentist bad enough, when we we came home she noticed that one of her beloved guppies, Belle was lying on the bottom of the fish tank. Double whammy. So we had the ceremonial flushing and wished her well back in the river. It's tough being six.

On the bright side, Bath & Body Works is now open in Calgary! So we made a trip down after supper and bought a few goodies. I'll now save money as I won't have to take as many trips to the States to get my supply.

Ahhhh

The kids are quiet so I have a few minutes of peace. Todd is away for a few days so Emily, Liam and I are on our own. We had a great weekend, though. Yesterday I shared a childhood treat - the ice cream man! with the kids. The music brings back memories, but they now ride around in little trucks versus the bicycles with the 'fridges' on the front. Emily and Liam thought it was the greatest thing having him drive around the neighborhood and look forward to Monday (apparently he will be back).

After dropping Todd off at the airport, we headed to Superstore and then to the zoo for the afternoon. We saw some of our favorites - bears, wolves, otters and dinosaurs. Liam was dressed up as Spiderman (what else is new?) and received quite a few comments. Some kids even wanted their picture taken with him.
