Yeehaw!

The Calgary Stampede is dubbed the Greatest Show on Earth and the city has been very much alive for the past 10 days.  Pretty much everyone in corporate downtown trades in their business clothes for jeans and cowboy boots.  Tons of parties everywhere so really, not much work being accomplished.  It seems this year there have been more parties and bigger events; I even went to more than I have in the past.  Fun.  My group also held it's 2nd annual stampede breakfast on the floor.  We had over 200 colleagues join us for some pancakes and sausage.  It's been fun, but will be nice to get back to reality.

Spruce Meadows

We took the kids to Spruce Meadows last weekend.  I enjoy it, but the event is definitely veiled in tradition and a bit of upperclass pomp.  Fun regardless and a beautiful day.  Canada's Ian Miller won the event, just beating out a 16 year old girl from the United States.  Her time was actually faster than Ian's, but she had two faults.

21 gun salute.  The kids thought this was great.  Thankfully, they were shooting blank cartridges.
