Springtime?!

It was a beautiful day today and some of the snow/ice was melting causing 'rivers' to form by the sidewalks. Perfect conditions for boat racing.

Emily's entry
Neighborhood cat
The race is on!
Emily taking care of her 'babies.'
Liam taking a turn with the 'babies.' Not quite as gentle as Emily...
Liam got snow in his boots and didn't like walking with wet socks.
I guess his socks warmed up or he wanted to throw a snowball at mom.

Dudes Gotta Eat

We all know that Canadian athletes don't earn a lot of money and they make many sacrifices to achieve athletic greatness. So one of the funniest quotes from these Olympics comes from Calgary's own Jon Montgomery. When asked what he's going to do now, he said that he's returning to Alberta, back to his auctioneering job, "Dude's gotta eat." What a character.

On another Olympic note, Canada rules gold! We are currently third in medals (21) and first in gold with 10, count 'em 10! We're beating the USA and Germany AND we still have a chance to win at least two more - men's hockey and men's curling. Great Olympics!

Olympics and Date Night

I read a quote this morning and for some reason, it re-ignited patriotism in me, "How do you not love being Canadian this week?" The Olympics are entering the 2nd week of competition and we're doing alright - 8 medals so far, 4 of those GOLD. I bought Emily and Liam a coveted Canada hoody and Mascot stuffies. They're into it, too.

On another note, Todd and I saw the movie Valentine's Day last night. Talk about a star-studded cast. From Patrick Dempsey to Eric Dane to Jennifer Gardner to Bradley Cooper to Julia Roberts, among others. Todd was hesitant to see the 'chick flick', but didn't want to spend 3 hours watching a movie ie. Avatar so agreed to go. Plus it was our belated Valentine's so I had a say. We both enjoyed it and were home by 9:30 p.m. You know you're getting old when you base your plans on how early you can be home!
