A Wee Trip to Scotland

I was lucky enough to go to Scotland for a work trip.  Eight days of being back in Europe (Todd and I spent a summer years ago backpacking through Europe).  We flew to Aberdeen for six days for the work purpose and then a colleague and I took a train to Edinburgh for another two days of exploring.  Aberdeen was fun due to another colleague who happens to be Scottish and knew the lay of the land.  Great pubs, lots of laughs made the long work hours tolerable.  Aberdeen was nice, but Edinburgh is another story.  Beautiful old city, a Castle in the middle of it.  I loved walking along the narrow cobblestone streets and ducking into pubs, Jamie Oliver's restaurant for dinner, shops and little cafes for a latte.  We also took a city bus tour that gave us a great view of the city.  The hotel Missoni was the perfect hub and central to all Edinburgh has to offer.  A night underground ghost tour gave yet another perspective.

I think I could live in Europe or at least spent another long while there.

Greyfriar's Bobby - cute story for all the dog lovers

Kind of like our Science Centre; reminded me of a catepillar

Parliament Building

Scott's Monument; we climbed the 268 stairs to the top

A wedding we saw; who wouldn't want to get married at a castle? They drove away in a Rolls Royce.

The best mojito ever at Jamie Oliver's restaurant.  The trick was Prosecco instead of tonic water.

Still in bloom

This gravesite was neat; stone path to a solitary headstone among a grove of trees
