Happy New Year and Highlights from 2010

Welcome to 2011! It's hard to believe that another year has come and gone. We spent New Year's Eve with a good friend, her family, 6 other adults and 6 children (besides my own) between the ages of 1 -3. We had a nice time catching up with some old friends while welcoming 2011. Todd also took Liam to his first NHL game. I figured they would come back to the party after the first period, but Liam, being hockey-mad these days, wanted to stay until the end of the game.

Looking back at 2010, we had a pretty great year. Some highlights include:

Vacations:
- a surprise trip to Disneyland for the kids with Emily's BFF's family
- a "Todd/Irene only" week in Mexico to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary
- summertime fun in Penticton with the kids and in-laws
- a girls only trip to Vegas courtesy of my dear husband

Emily:
- big grade 2 girl! Becoming quite the little leader as she was one of the kids chosen to be on the student council
- enjoying her tap and jazz dance classes
- great little swimmer (swim kids 6)
- a real sweetheart of a girl. She displays such confidence and has an empathetic and caring nature, with the occasional glimpse into her teenage years.

Liam:
- really coming into his own at the Montessori school (his 'gap' year before kindergarten as I like to call it). He's enjoying his spanish, french and music classes and definitely the 'order' philosophy of the school.
- becoming quite the little athlete - coach recommendation for Dynomites gymnastics, great little soccer player, and ice skater. Very obsessed with everything hockey at this time. He can't wait to start his Grassroots hockey season.
- very strong-willed and persistent/incessant little man this year with a tender and sensitive soul.

Miscellaneous:
- Todd completed two half marathons this year and has set his sights on a full marathon in 2011.
- I completed a 10 week 'fitness' challenge and was quite pleased with the results. The goal is to maintain the results and also train for and complete a triathlon in 2011.
- Last, but not least, we had a lot of great laughs (and wine) with family and friends this year and looking forward to even more this year.

What will 2011 bring? The next 362 days will tell.....
