We spent this past weekend with my friend of 27 years and her family at their cabin in Beaver Mines, a hamlet in Southern Alberta. We have known each other since grade 7 and I have many fond memories of spending time at her parents' cabin (which ironically is next door to theirs). We reminisced about how we used to talk about getting married, having kids, watching the kids play together, etc. Funny how all those times have now become our reality. We chatted about retiring one day and I can just see us in another 20 years, sitting on the deck or by the fire, having some wine and reliving the past 47 years and looking forward to the next phases of life.
