Emily entered grade 4 this morning and Liam grade 1. They were pretty excited to start the new year; Liam because he has his own desk and Emily because of all her new clothes. I had to laugh yesterday when Emily laid out all of her new outfits, trying to decide on what to wear. She did pick something out after polling multiple family members. We asked Liam what he wanted to wear and he responded, "What I wore today." At least he's low maintenance in one area.

Winding Down Summer
The kids head back to school this upcoming Tuesday after Labor Day so last week Todd took them to the Calgary Zoo and I took them to Calaway Park. We went on a fair amount of rides and after being disappointed two years in a row, Liam was finally tall enough to ride the rollercoaster. It has been a fun two months of summer holidays for us all.
Progress
I have always wanted a hottub; the idea of sitting in one after a long day, kids in bed and a glass of wine in hand has appealed to both Todd and I. We bought one in May-ish and it's been in our yard, waiting for us to install. It's been a busy summer with our two holidays and a bit too hot to soak in steamy water so it hasn't been a priority...until recently. The days are getting shorter, the evenings and mornings cooler so operation hottub is almost complete. Concrete pad poured, tub in place on said pad and an electrician is booked for this week. Ideally it will be functioning next weekend, just in time for me to leave for a work trip to Scotland.
The other project that we wanted to complete this year is the final side of the fence. It is down and the post holes are dug.
