Is that bad?

Emily hasn't been feeling very well since Sunday.  She has been home from school for the last two days with a headache, slight fever and horrible cough.  I've 'diagnosed' her with croup.  Thankfully from what I've read, it sounds much worse than it is.  Nevertheless, I feel horrible for her.  Between giving her Tylenol or water, Todd and I were up about 4 times last night with her.  Hopefully she's on the mend and tonight will be better.

I called her from work today and she wasn't up to taking Liam to school, so she wanted to know if she could stay home while our nanny took him.  She's almost 8 years old and has never been home alone.  It doesn't take more than 10 minutes to drop him off so I confirmed that the doors were locked and I stayed on the phone with her until our nanny came back.  Is that bad?  I felt a bit apprehensive, but she was pretty proud of herself.  We did the same when it was time to bring Liam home. She didn't seem to be afraid.  In fact, she was pretty mature and handled her first time home alone like a pro.  It won't become a regular occurrence just yet though.
